About Us
Human Algorithms was founded by Swati Basu, a registered psychologist, to bring together psychology, neuroscience, and human meaning in a practical, individualised approach to understanding ourselves.
In a fast-moving world, it can be difficult to make sense of the information, expectations, and pressures around us. Human Algorithms offers a way to explore how thoughts form, emotions recur, habits develop, and decisions are made—and how these patterns can change.
Our work begins with curiosity about your experience: what matters to you, what feels difficult, and what you would like to approach differently. We work with you to build understanding and practical skills that support your mental wellbeing, relationships, and everyday choices.
Understanding Your Patterns
The “algorithms” in Human Algorithms refer to the patterns that shape our responses to life. Some patterns help us; others may become less useful as our circumstances change.
By recognising these patterns, we can explore new ways of responding with greater awareness, flexibility, and intention. This is not about reducing people to formulas. Each person brings a unique history, strengths, values, and circumstances.
Psychology Grounded in Human Experience
Our approach connects psychological knowledge with the realities of daily life. Alongside therapy, Human Algorithms explores human behaviour through books and educational resources, making ideas accessible for reflection and personal growth.
We value compassion, thoughtful enquiry, and a collaborative relationship in which you feel heard and respected.
Who We Support
Swati provides psychology consultations for children aged 8 and over, adolescents, and adults, along with parent consultations where appropriate.
Appointments are available face-to-face in Westlake, Brisbane, and online Australia-wide. We welcome people from surrounding suburbs and further afield.
Whether you are seeking support with a particular concern or a deeper understanding of yourself, we work with you towards changes that are meaningful in your life.
